How Do You Really Repair Damaged Hair

repair damaged hairIf you have damaged hair You have a great hair problem.Whenever you look at the mirror, you feel depression coming on because you cant bear to look at yourself in the mirror your hair is like a nest thats gone berserk. Youve often heard of bad hair days and how they can really affect a womans self-esteem. Its not easy when you see your hair so lank and dull and practically hard to style. At this point, you may regret having one perm too many or having your hair styled to the point that it refuses to be styled any longer. And then you start looking for ways to repair damaged hair.

Its hard to hear the words I told you so but when your hair has reached this point it means prevention is no longer an option. Since hair is not alive like fingernails, it doesnt have any way to repair itself. However, depending on the damage, there are still various options for repairing your damaged hair.

The most basic technique to repair damaged hair is conditioning your hair. This means bringing back the natural oils that were removed because of the abuse that happened to your hair. Choose conditioning treatments that contain proteins, are ph-balanced and moisture enhancing. A trip to the salon for a hot oil treatment can also work. The hot oil treatment will make your hair shiner and stronger but it may cost a lot especially if you make it a recurring solution. If youre on a tight budget, there are also many home-made conditioning remedies that you can try.

If you want to go natural, aloe vera is a plant said to cure common hair problems. The extract of aloe vera contains medicinal properties that conditions hair to make it stronger and thicker. Olive and mineral oils are also helpful to condition the hair. Applying these oils to your hair rejuvenates your hair shaft which in turn makes your hair a little glossy.

Another alternative is to use Vitamin E. Vitamin E has nourishing properties not just for the body but for your hair as well. It repairs on a cellular level so you can either take it as a medicinal supplement or apply it directly to your hair by mixing it with your regular shampoo. There are also some shampoos that already contain Vitamin E.

Regular trimming of hair ends and hot oil treatments at home with olive oil or virgin coconut oil are some of the other alternatives. But I think the the best solution to repair damaged hair is to look for ways to grow healthy hair which will in due course replace the damaged hair. This is possible only when your body is getting all the essential vitamins that promote hair growth. You can either take these vitamins in pill or tablet form or take foods which are source of these vitamins in natural form.If you want to take the drastic course of action, you may simply want to cut off all your hair (especially if its really damaged) and let it grow back again.Reblog this post [with Zemanta]
