Permanent hair color removal Tips

Sometimes, you just wake up and feel that its time for a change. Other times, usually following a break-up, women tend to go for a make-over to lift their self-esteem, usually with a new hairstyle or hair color as a drastic sign that theyre moving on. However, given the rash and impulsive decision, they sometimes end up regretting what theyve done especially if theyve given themselves a permanent hair color. They now wish they opted for the semi-permanent or demi-permanent hair color or maybe just tried a few highlights, for that matter.

Unlike the others, when you give yourself a permanent hair color it will take months before the color fades. Permanent hair color is usually done when youre going from black to a lighter color. It is the only process that can truly change the color of black. The thing is with permanent hair color you also have to bleach your hair first to remove the black pigments and allow the new color to be absorbed. Permanent hair color will also never wash out although it will fade in time. This is why you need to think twice before you decide on using permanent color on your hair.

Now, if for some reason, you want to change the color of your hair again, you first need to remove the permanent hair color youve got on. Its not going to be easy. If youre not careful, you may end up damaging your hair. There are three things you can try:

  • First, you can bleach your hair. This will ultimately remove the effects of the permanent hair color but it will also leave your hair dry and brittle if you do this too soon after youve applied your permanent hair color. Also, it is only when youve applied the new color can you use a deep and moisturizing conditioner to prevent further damage to your hair, especially when you need to blow-dry or style it.
  • Another product in the market is the permanent hair color remover. As its name suggests, it removes the color from your hair by stripping it down to your natural color. Sometimes, the remover also removes some of your natural color to prepare for a new color to be applied. It works much like a color application, except in reverse. You first apply the solution, let it stay in your hair for about 20 minutes, wash and rinse it from the hair. Apply your new color if you want. Otherwise, you may use a conditioner on it now.
  • The third option, if all else fails, is for you to cut off that part of your hair which has a permanent hair color and simply wait for your hair to regrow.
